Cornelius Krieghoff

Born in Amsterdam in 1815 and died in Chicago in 1872. Emigrated to New York about 1836; served with the American army and was discharged in 1840. Married a French-Canadian and moved to Canada in the early 1840's. Krieghoff studied in Rotterdam and Dusseldorf. He lived briefly in Toronto and Longueuil, then settled in Montreal where he lived from 1847 to 1853; thereafter in Quebec, until he moved to Chicago in 1868 to live with his daughter.
